Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an Interior Designer for our Retail practice. The Interior Designer role is an entry-level position, working with the project team to assist overall efforts to complete various project phases.


Selected Knowledge & Skills include (but are not limited to):

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Knowledge of project deadlines

  • Knowledge of expectations related to high-quality service to clients

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Possess basic hand and CAD drafting skills

  • Possess space planning skills and interest in programming

  • Basic knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness

  • Basic knowledge of furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color, and materials to carry out design intent

  • Basic knowledge of building regulations, life safety codes, and ADA requirements

  • Basic knowledge of the construction process as it relates to the drawings being produced

  • Basic knowledge about sustainability, LEED guidelines, and WELL Building preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop

  • Proficiency in Revit is preferred

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field surveys as required; Field surveys must be easy to read and thorough.

  • Assist in the preparation of drawings for all design phases.

  • Update design documents as needed for all levels of designers.

  • Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.

  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.

  • Build models for client/project team review.

  • Provide research and compile data during design phases.

  • Prepare and modify architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc.

  • Participate in design charrettes and project team meetings.

  • Participate in client meetings as directed.

  • Participate in the construction process as requested (site visits, punch lists, submittals, shop drawing review, etc.).

  • Attend “lunch and learn” events and other vendor presentations on an ongoing basis.

  • Complete timesheet daily and expense reports accurately and on time.

  • Embrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environment

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited University plus:

  • 3+ years experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience working in the field of Architecture/Design
