Artist Statement: In designing, I had in mind the theme "Bridge to the Future." To me, PAVE itself is the bridge, because the very purpose of a bridge is to connect two sides. In this case, PAVE is the bridge between students and professionals so that both learn from the other—academically and professionally.
The bridge is built with multi-colored geometric blocks, representing the plurality of the disciplines, product, interior design, architecture, and graphic design; housed under the umbrella support of PAVE. Suspended above the bridge are figures of humans representing students and teachers uniting as a column to march towards newer horizons with imagination tools such as pencils, laptops, and sketches.
That is why I named my design "Bridge of Connections." I very much believe that this is what PAVE stands for: a bridge that unites design enthusiasts of all disciplines and levels. By these connections, PAVE allows students and professionals to work together, exchange information, and create inspiring and purposeful design for the future.
This design is a testament to unity, collaboration, and the power of connection. A bridge that empowers one to cross and access new destinations, PAVE constructs bridges that empower students to step confidently into their desired professions, equipped and empowered by a powerful design community.
