THE 2022 KEVIN ROCHE RECOGNITION SCHOLARSHIP

The Kevin Roche Recognition Scholarship recognizes and supports leadership potential in current students pursuing degrees in Interior Design, Graphic Design, UX Design, Product Design, Visual Merchandising, and Architecture through a $2,000 Scholarship and Mentorship.

ABOUT KEVIN ROCHE

Kevin Roche is a design professional and retail industry leader whose background includes over forty years of global experience across Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and Europe integrating strategy, planning, design, and architecture alongside the classic marketing, operations, merchandising finance, and C-Suite executives. 

 

Most recently as SVP of Design and Construction, he led the new and redevelopment of LVMH’s and DFS Group’s leading Galleria and Travel Retail sectors. Representatives of his iconic projects include the renovation of the recently opened La Samaritaine, Paris, Il Fondaco De Tedeschi, Venice, Le Bon Marche, Paris, and Sun Plaza, Hong Kong.

Currently, Kevin is serving as a Senior Advisor to Moet Hennessy, the Wine and Spirits Group of LVMH on a variety of hospitality and retail projects around the world.

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW

THE AWARD

Kevin Roche will hand-select one student to be recognized as the recipient of this scholarship. The recipient will receive:

  • A $2,000 Scholarship*

  • 20 hours with Kevin Roche for mentoring and introductions to global design agencies for internships or post-graduation job interviews.

  • Expenses will be covered (airfare, hotel, event tickets, and per diem according to gsa.gov rates) for the recipient to attend the 2022 PAVE Gala, on December 8th in New York City where they will be recognized amongst their peers and industry professionals and have the opportunity to network and make new connections.

* Award sent directly to recipient's institution, to be applied directly towards tuition or other applicable schooling costs.

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

  • Student must be currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year program working toward a degree in Interior Design, Graphic Design, UX Design, Product Design, Visual Merchandising, or Architecture, focusing on the retail environments, restaurant, or hospitality industries.​

  • Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Student must be a full-time student, enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.

  • Student must be located and studying within the United States.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The following items must be included in your application for your request to be considered.​​

 

1.) Prepare a simple written and visual response, please no more than 8 pages, to these three questions with visuals.

  1. Discuss your thoughts on the role of beauty versus function in design and how you would describe visual intelligence.

  2. How would you consider Multi-Cultural influences into your designs?

  3. How could you imagine your contribution as a designer and as a global citizen?

2.) One written letter of reference. Can be a professor, faculty member, or an employer (including internship supervisors).- References CANNOT be friends or family members.

3. ) Must include a copy of your current transcript (official or unofficial)

4.) Applications and supporting documents must be submitted through Submittable.

ABOUT THE PAVE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The PAVE Scholarship Program, now in its thirteenth year, provides financial assistance to students in educational programs preparing them for careers in the retail environments industry, including but not limited to careers in retail design, visual merchandising, interior design, architecture, product design, UX design, graphic design, and industrial design.

 

PAVE was developed to help ensure a future talent pool for the industry by eliminating barriers to studying in these fields. The funds assist students who are experiencing financial difficulties that may prevent them from continuing school. PAVE has awarded students over $234,500 in financial grants and scholarships in the past three years.​
